Position:         Bus Dispatcher

Location:         Transportation

Hours:               M-F, 6:30 am-3:30 pm, 12 months

Effective:          Immediately

Salary:               In accordance with existing salary schedule

Responsibilities:

• Manages daily assignments for bus drivers and attendants and maintains attendance
• Coordinates vehicles, drivers, and attendants to properly follow busing schedules
• Plans, schedules, and assigns drivers for special requests, e.g. field trips
• Maintains and updates daily dispatch sheets
• Handles inquiries from parents, students, and staff
• Oversees 19A Examiner and School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) duties relating to staff records, departmental files, medical requirements and training classes
• Operates a school bus or serves as a bus attendant, as needed

Job Qualifications

Minimum Experience: Graduation from high school and one year of satisfactory bus driving and/or motor vehicle dispatching.

Mandatory Requirement: Candidates must meet all requirements of Article 19-A of the NYS Vehicle and Traffic Law and the School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the NYS Commissioner of Education.

Note: Section 156.3 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education states, in part, that all drivers of school transportation conveyances shall be at least 21 years of age.
